Who I am

I’m Pranay Kiran. I make Musa CAD and run this website, musacad.org. When this policy says “I” or “me”, that’s who it means. You can reach me about anything here at [email protected].

The Musa CAD application

What it doesn’t do

Musa CAD has no account, no sign-in, no telemetry, no usage analytics, no crash reporting and no ads. It never uploads your drawings. Its settings — your preferences, where your DWG converter is installed, when it last looked for updates — are kept in an ordinary settings file on your computer.

The update check

The one thing Musa CAD does over the network on its own is look for a new version, at most once a day:

It sends a single HTTPS request to GitHub (api.github.com) — or to Flathub (flathub.org) if you installed the Flatpak — asking for the latest release.
The request carries nothing about you or your drawings. Its user agent names only the program and its version, for example MusaCAD/0.6.0 (update check).
Like any request on the internet, it shows GitHub or Flathub your IP address. They handle that under their own privacy policies; I don’t receive it.
It’s on by default in the packaged builds and off in builds you compile yourself. Switch it off any time in Options (OP), or set the environment variable MUSACAD_NO_UPDATE_CHECK.

Downloads you ask for

Two features fetch files from the internet, and only when you choose to use them:

Updating on Windows. When you accept an update, Musa CAD downloads the new installer and its SHA-256 checksum from the project’s GitHub releases.
DWG Setup. When you ask it to fetch the ODA File Converter, Musa CAD downloads it from the Open Design Alliance (opendesign.com). The converter is their program, under their terms, and it runs on your computer.

This website

No cookies, no analytics

musacad.org sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind. Its fonts are served from this site, not from a font service.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. To deliver pages and keep the service secure, GitHub processes the usual details of each request — your IP address, browser and the page you asked for — under the GitHub Privacy Statement. GitHub Pages doesn’t give me visitor logs.

The live version number

So that the download buttons always point at the newest release, your browser asks GitHub’s public API (api.github.com) for the current version and star count. GitHub sees that request like any other. The answer is kept for 15 minutes in your browser’s session storage — not a cookie, never sent anywhere, and gone when you close the tab.

Downloads and other sites

Downloads come from GitHub releases or Flathub, and links to other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies. Once you follow a link, this policy no longer covers what happens there.

Donations

If you donate, the payment goes through the service you pick — your UPI app, PayPal or Ko-fi — under that service’s privacy policy. It shares with me what it shares with any recipient, typically your name, the amount and any message you add. I use that only to keep my own records and to thank you, and I never sell or share it.

If you email me

I get your email address and whatever you write. I use it to reply, keep it only as long as the conversation needs, and never add you to a mailing list or pass it on.

Your choices and rights

Since I don’t collect personal data through the app or the site, there’s usually nothing to look up. For anything I do hold — emails, donation records — you can ask me to show it to you, correct it or delete it by writing to [email protected]. You also have whatever rights the data-protection law where you live gives you, including the right to complain to your local regulator.

Children

Musa CAD and this site aren’t directed at children, and I don’t knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If what the app or the site does with data changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. Every past version is in this website’s public history.
